New Toy...

Well, I got a phone call this afternoon that dampened my rage and fury over earlier events of the day to a slow burn. Not forgotten...but in a more managable configuration...

The Triumph dealership called today...and my baby has arrived. He said I could come down and check it out tomorrow as soon as he gets it uncrated, assembled with accessories, and cleaned up. A 2004 Triumph America (click) just like the blue metallic and silver one on this website except mine is emerald green metallic and silver. I don't think I've ever bought any kind of vehicle brand new before. The little Royal Enfield in the photo on my profile was near new (2147 miles) but at about the same size as a Sportster, it is evidently too small for me, and runs out of poop on mountain passes. The Triumph has twice the horsepower and is somewhere between the size of the Enfield, and a full fledged hawg. I have trouble with my knees on the heavier bikes, but the Enfield doesn't bother me that way. When I test drove the demo Triumph, it seemed to have about the same balance as the Enfield, though the wheelbase is 10 inches longer.

They are coming out with a real badboy bike called the Rocket III. Billed as the brawniest production bike it is 140 cubic inches of sequential fuel injected three cylinder (mounted inline, Indian style) developing 90% of it's whopping 147 ft/lbs of torque at only 1800 rpm! Acceleration is rated at 1.2G's. Has a back "tyre" that looks like a truck tire. I'm afraid that a bike like that would be my undoing, since I'm a bit throttle happy anyway. The one I'm getting has about the same specs divided in half. Still pretty awesome!

I know this has little to do with hunting, but I do other things besides hunt and throw tirades.

Cycling always relaxes me and mellows me out. :D

Wow I didn`t think i would ever hear the word "royal enfield" again i haven`t seen 1 of them since the late 60`s, and the old rocket three was back then too. stay safe riding your new bike.

You need to test runthat thing up to Idaho this October bubba. I'll bring your campin' gear so you don't need to bring nothing. Just please promise you won't sew me up in my sleepin' bag, OK! LOL :D

ROTFLMBO @ Paws! :D Now what ever would make you think that I might do that??? Moi??? :eek:

I went down today and put some money down to make sure they would hold it for me until I can get to the credit union. Can you believe a credit union that elects to be closed on Fridays? My one day off during the week for errands and such. So I'll show them! :mad: I'll just blow the whole chunk I have in there and start over somewhere else! At least if I'm making payments to myself, I get to keep all the interest, right? :D

I can hardly wait to take delivery on it next weekend, after the accessories come in. He did let me have a go at polishing the goo off it (from shipping). Those web pictures really don't do the thing justice. I'm getting excited again just thinking about it. I negotiated the deal for the bike, TTL, and about $2500-$3000 worth of accessories for around $9800...as opposed to $18000 for a Harley Davidson without the add ons and TTL. Don't get me wrong...I love Harleys to bits...but I can't justify $18K for a toy that I will only use in favorable weather. Motorcycles and CJ-5's suck on ice! :D Would you think I was crazy if I told you that I'm having a double door put in my computer room (former one-car garage) so I can park it in the house? ROTFLMBO again!

Hope I have some money left over to buy gas for it! :eek:

Heu rougie, every day I go to work I pass and go into a classic motorcycle shop on the way, there is a;
"Royal Enfield bullet 65"
for sale outside on the pavement plus a heap of BSA and AJS, Norton, James etc etc I reckon you would kill any raghead for the chance to buy any of these.
Prices? bout what you would pay for a couple of tyres for your Truck. :D :D :D

Wow! Kiwi...guess there are lots of bennies to living in NZ. Besides being a possible site of the former Garden of Eden (from the photos I've seen), there are all the great deals on cycles that we seldom get over here. I received a brochure a few weeks ago on the Royal Enfield Sixty-5. Quite a few upgrades from my Bullet Deluxe. Five speed tranny, and electric start being the most memorable. They are making a Limited Edition of the Standard Royal Enfield Bullet 500 this year(actually a 2005 model commemorating 50 years of the Bullet model). It has many cool features such as the original style Lucas lighting and a special paint job featuring pearlescent white paint and gold pinstriping. I think the production numbers are to be held at under 100 produced. The Enfields we get over here are all gunked up with stuff to meet DOT standards...like a really ugly rectangular taillamp that appears to have been stolen from a motor home. I would like to keep mine for nostalgia's sake, but don't know if I can justify keeping both of them. It does turn a lot of heads and is fun to ride in parades and such.

All the old Nortons and BSA's are being snapped up over here like penny candy. There is an ad in our local trader newspaper advertising "Any British Bikes Wanted!!!" Ebay has quite a few listings as well. Do you remember the Ariel Mark I with it's unusual Square Four engine? Those are extremely rare here, but they do turn up once in a great while
