New Mexico Cow Redux ‘25

Late season depredation tags. Desert ranches that get slammed after draw hunts.
I believe.
Ken should be up next.

Nice-looking setup. Love it. (That bottom metal fooled me.)
Looking forward to the recap.

Good fellowship, beautiful country...

Took her @ dawn yesterday with my son's RUM @ a dialed 500 uphill . . . note the same scope bite he took last year. I can't say enough about the performative aspects of Lupe's VX5HD CDS. The low firedot setting with clear to the edges sight pic are outstanding. 181 HH 30 cal at 3280.
Drove home heavy

Great job Ken and KJr!

Damn how come our kids look to be getting older? Can't be that we are as well could it? Maybe its just that we've been shipping photos, etc. back and forth here for 20+ years now lol....
Jr. is a steady hand and co-pilot...his keen vision frustrates the hell out of me, and him, I'm sure, when he's telling me (calmly) "Dad, they're right there"...

Lots of cutting to do congratulations!

I remember a November morning about 20 years ago meeting my dad at the truck after a morning hunt. After asking about his morning he looked at me and said "It's hell getting old boy". He'd had a good buck in front of him but for the first time in his life couldn't see well enough to use his open sight model 94. Last time he hunted with it got a #1 with a scope y'all would have got along.

Sigh...been there, done AND doing that!
Gotten a tad better now that the doc gave me a new lens but yeah seeing and SEEING are def two different things. Was any eye opener (pun intended) on my muzzy tag a few years ago, first time I'd hunted (other than archery) without a scope in ages. Always fun to have to decide what I wanted to see, the animal or the front bead....

Luckily this years bull decided to walk right down and get a drink, no needle threading required!

What a way to start 2025, congrats to you both. Did the kiss come from shooting prone?
