Question, are the new Leupold rings machined from cast MIM , or from solid bar stock like the older ones?
I’m talking about the new ones with the “L” on top vs the older ones without.
Leupold just says “ machined from steel “ ( which could be either way )
Anybody know?

Rings like the Mark 4 are offered in both steel and aluminum. Medium Mark 4 30mm aluminum are # 57398 while steel are # 61049.

How do the 49900 and 49901 fit into this?
Machined from bar stock or MIM?
The Leupold website does not say, but I expect that they are machined. I can ask my contact there if you want me to. For these I believe that the difference is in appearance dull/matte vs shiny.

Yes I see both are machined. And yes one is gloss vs the other is matte finish. My question is whether the new ones ( with the “L” logo on top ) are machined from solid bar stock or from MIM ( injection molded ) cast.
Leupold website doesn’t say specifically and I haven’t gotten anything from an Email I ask about.
If you can find out, I’d appreciate it.

The reply from my Leupold CS contact is "Our rings with the L stamped on the top of them will be machined from bar stock. Have a nice day!"

So there you have it.
