Practice, practice, practice with your chosen weapon. If rifle, join a gun club or if archery, join a league. Most people are more than happy to help new shooters. Also, buy the best equipment you can afford. And learn to use google earth.

Welcome. For a beginner, try small game to hone your skills. Like Cushman said, practice a ton. See if there are any hunt clubs nearby and join, that may get you hunting access and partners.
