SFW first lobbied for 5% of all limited tags in UT, and after getting them, later attempted to get that raised to 30%. The average guys in UT would not let it happen, so it remained at 5% (except sheep...10% of all sheep tags). Don Peay likes to say that they only want 5% of opportunity to go to conservation tags, no more, no less. Then he asked for and received an additional 200 tags to go to the expo. These are called "convention" tags, so he still touts the fact that they only take 5%. Now he is proposing another 100 tags go to landowners.

Now why would I think SFW would try to gain more auction tags in AK?

Well it took longer than it should have, but he did finally hang himself. Go figure that it took an outside state investigation to bring his misdeeds to light. Looks like there will be a few extra draw tags available this year since he won't have his 4-5 and those of his family reserved.
