After reading numerous articles, and watching videos from a guy named Clayes Hayes, who did Survivor, I came to the conclusion I needed wool clothing. What sold me was "keeps you warm even when wet". I did searches and ended up buying a few Pendelton shorts and sweaters. And finally, I found a company in Vermont that looked like pretty decent wool clothing, in tall sizes too (I'm 6'2"). I ordered, very cautiously, 3 pieces, a hooded jacket, a shirt, and bibs from johnsonwoolenmills.com.

They came on Friday, and I was so pleased I ordered 5 more pieces. Even though the pieces were more expensive, the quality was unbelievably awesome. All of it made in the USA. I love helping other Americans out. That's why I buy Leupold. Anyways, I wholeheartedly recommend this outfit. You won't be disappointed. I get nothing from this except the joy of helping out my fellow hunters in the field, and helping a great American company that makes American made products by Americans. Hope you'll place an order. And, if you do, and are pleased, Call their consumer service line and let them know, and spread the word. These are Hunting clothes you will pass on to your grand kids.

I bought 2 of those also, but the fabric is foreign, FYI. It wasn't as thick as the Johnson shirts. The jacket and 2 jacshirts by Johnson feel incredibly warm. And Johnson has many more tall sizes.
I have thick wool shirts too.

Just curious how heavy are the wool pants, if you bought some? I'm in need of a good heavy pair of wool pants

Wore a pair of Wind Shear Cabelas wool bibs out with over 20 years of hard cold weather hunting, working in the cold, and frigid football games use. Believe they were discontinued quite a few years ago. Have Sitka down Incinerators (IIRC) now...nice quality.

If foreign made components are an issue for you, be advised ALL of Leupold's optical components (glass/lenses) are Asian.......they are assembled in the US.

Glass has not been made in the U.S. for probably 30 years. Nothing I can do about that.

I've been using a pair of military surplus wool pants for years. They are "German Officer Pants" or something like that. They look like a pair of dress pants but they are perfect....and they look nice too so if I want to stop by a nice restaurant on the way home I won't be out of place :)

I wear practically only wool clothing while hunting.
I have two pair of Big Bill wool pants. One pair I’ve had around five years and use them everyday I hunt. I recently bought a second pair to have as a back up as they were on sale.
I wear Kuiu merino base layers, wool socks (I’m getting a new pair or two this off season), a button up Pendleton wool shirt off of eBay which was like new. I also have an Asbell wool hooded jacket and a Johnson woolen mills jack shirt.

I used only West German milsurp wool for the first 20 years year in Idaho. Unobtanium now.
The only drawback is that they get really heavy when wet.

Still wear my old Cabela's Wooltimate bibs and jacket in the tree stand sometimes. They belong on the 10 year old and still going thread.

Filson is a great choice, though expensive.

The Sitka Incinerators are the warmest thing I’ve ever worn.

I loaned them to a buddy for a cold weather hunt. He said “putting them on is like going inside.”
