Hello all. I have decided to try a late season muley/whitetail hunt with my muzzleloader on public land. Im going into this pretty blind and was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction. Basically I'm looking to get very far off the beaten path and get into some good muley/whitetail country. I will most likely be hinting the Nebraska national Forest and it appears that there are a lot of roads through this forest that trucks and ATVs are allowed to run on. I am looking for an area that I can get away from other hunters and trucks and ATVs. I love burning boot leather and getting as far away as possible. I am open to other public lands, but right now I'm thinking that the pine ridge unit of the Nebraska National Forest is my best option to get away from offroad vehicles and other hunters?? If anyone out there has found some more desolate areas of the national forest and could suggest a starting point, I'm all ears. Im in very good physical shape and have the appropriate gear to cross water and I'm definitely not afraid of a high mileage multi day drag out. Thanks in advance and good luck to all the hunters still at it.
