Annual trip? What's your secret to drawing a tag each year?!?! Gratis? Where I hunt whitetails, it is getting very tough to get a tag, realistically every 3-4 years. Congrats on a great buck!

Yeah I get a gratis tag. With ND progressive 1% allocations for non-residents you basically have no chance at drawing after they take out the non residents landowner tags. In the unit I'm in two years ago after they took out the non- resident gratis tag there were 7 tags left for 100 applicants. So I started going the gratis route and let my 4 points go down the drain.

So Fri morning was the last day I was going to be at home. With dad still with tag in hand he decided to go make a home in a rock pile ( by the way these are no fun to make as a kid every spring) that we had seen some activity by. After about 2 hours he had a buck he like make his way by him. A short 80 yard shot and he had is 2011 tag filled.

This is turning into the hunt I most look forward to each year.
