I have a ton of respect for how Marinelli beat Joseph in the finals two weeks ago. I have zero respect for how he beat Wick in the semis. I know Marinelli has had Wicks number all year but I was glad to see they are on the same side of the bracket and hope they see each other again.
I'm not picking scores, cause you never know how that'll go. But (Heres some unoriginal picks):
125: Rivera (NW) over Lee (IA)
133: Micic (MI) over Fix (OKST)
141: Diakomihalis (COR) over Lee (PSU)
149: Ashnault (RUT) over Jordan (OHST)
157: Nolf (PSU) over Deakin (NW)
165: Joseph (PSU) over Wick (WI)
174: Valencia (ASU) over Hall (PSU)
184: Martin (OSU) over Rasheed (PSU)
197: Nickal (PSU) over Moore (OHST)
HWT: Stevenson (MN) over White (OKST)
For the record I think 5 of the top 6 HWT are in the bottom half of that bracket.
I like your picks for the most part. I like seeing Lee in the finals at 141. If he can keep the match with McKenna close in the first 2 periods and then turn it on in the 3rd like he did in the dual he will be fine. Penn State doesn't gas out like Ohio State guys do... Don't think he'll beat Diakomihalis in the finals though.
I don't see Valencia beating Hall. I was at the match in State College and Valencia was gassed. He looks like he is cutting too much weight. Making weight for 3 days at nationals is going to zap the energy right out of him. He is obviously very good, but I don't see him making the finals due to the weight issue. I could be wrong though.
Even though I'm a homer I've never been that impressed with Rasheed. I'd love to see him make the final, but my gut just tells me he is going to be a disappointment.
Anything can happen at HWT. I think Cassar is going to make the final, but don't think he'll beat White.
