Name these 2 ???

The snake swam across the river and ended up at our feet and I nearly stepped on the toad when it hopped onto the path I was on. The snake was about 18 inches long and doesn't look like the common Garter snake from around here. The toad I also have no idea on the type.

The snake looks like (possibly) an eastern garter snake or a plains garter snake. Just a guess.

leopard frog and it looks like a brown snake--chris

The snake is a Wandering garter snake[Thamnophis elegans vagrans],and I believe the frog is a Boreal chorus frog[Pseudacris maculata].
