I had a 36 and a 49/56. Both a ton of fun to shoot and good for some curious glances at the range. The 49/56 throws brass roughly 25m to 2 o’clock and comes with an integral, flip up grenade launcher sight.

Correct on the cowboy gun cartridge. The model 1895 in my gun cabinet made in 1895 per serial number has not been fired by me.

The all brass with a plastic seal 10 gauge loaded with BB was used as the weapon of choice by professional hunter Peter Whitehead for following up on wounded leopard. I don’t know if he used it in a 10 gauge shotgun or a .750 double rifle. Dad used a .458 for elephant and buffalo.

I did hear my dad say that Whitehead held two cartridges between his left fingers when hunting Cape Buffalo, would shoot both barrels, break the action open and slide two more home, snap it shut and be ready to fire jiffy quick.

Whitehead had his life was saved once by a gun bearer shooting a wounded Buffalo as he trying to drive the professional into the ground with his boss.
