Deer number 2 down and done for the year. My daughter killed this little buck this morning, less than 100 yards from where she missed a buck last week with the muzzleloader. Rifle opened yesterday, and with the junior tag here in Nevada, she can hunt archery, muzzleloader and rifle, either sex. I told her that she could shoot whatever she wanted, but really did not want her to shoot a doe.
The weather was horrible this morning with high winds, snow, rain and sleet. We were finally able to get low enough below the storm. My friend that was with us spotted 4 deer when we got out of the truck. They were 325 yards away. We got into 150, and when the fog, rain and deer cooperated, she let one fly on the broadside buck. He dropped on the shot, DRT. High shot in the lungs just below the spine on a steep down hill shot.
243 with 100 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullets on top of IMR 4350.
First buck for her!
