My 2020 Iowa season

I dont have many details about the early muzzleloader hunt. Dad and the boys pretty much did their own thing.

With my busy work schedule I only made it out a few times for an hour or 2. On the last day I got home from work and took a nap. When I got up to get ready to hunt I saw a small doe out in my grove. A short stalk and my tag was filled. Just a small girl but its meat in the freezer.

I'm finally getting caught up at work so I took the time to get a new string on the bow and got some new arrows. I took some time over this last week to get it dialed in. Got off work at 2 30 and headed to the deer stand. Dad made it to his stand about an hour before I got out there. He said that he heard a buck grunting in the direction of my stand. When I got there I just had a cold inactive sit. Have some household chores to do over the weekend but going to try to get some hunting in.

It's not wild game but I dusted off the smoker and trying some homemade bacon. Just started the brine process last night.

Here in Iowa we are starting to get some skim ice on the shallow water. After today it looks good and cold. Well I figured I better get the ice fishing gear out and check it over.

Looks like we will be good by Wednesday if the weather holds. The water is plenty cold to freeze fast! I’m ready to jig up some bluegills and crappies!

Hopefully fishing here next weekend. Plan on being on the backwaters over the holidays.

Our Deer season is over now too so looking forward to icefishing!

Packing up to head to the blackhills in south Dakota for Christmas. Just taking the wife out for a few days for Christmas. Kids are all grown up and do their own thing for the holidays so we get together with them after the 1st of the year.
I've been there but the wife has not so just going to show her the sights. My goal is to possibly see some bighorn sheep.
