Underrated? "MASH" is probably the biggest movie of the 70s and considered one of the greatest movies ever made.

In 1997, when I was 13 years old, Starship Troopers was released. Financially it was a box office bomb. Reviews ranged from "self defeatingly stupid", to James Berardinelli saying that "Starship Troopers would not work with good "or even competent" actors". Roger Ebert called the aliens "boring ciphers".

To the educated it was a failed satire, but to teenage Nameless Range it was violence, badassery, and generous nudity. It's a godd@mn American Classic.

Honorable mention for another most underrated movie ever goes to "Out Cold" - another box office bomb with an 8% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Seeing Out Cold, which I did watch growing up, reminded me of my favorite dumb underrated comedy that I don't think gets the respect it deserves. RIP to the legend Bill Paxton.

I didn't see this until it came out on video. Such a cool retelling of Beowulf. Not as great as Grendel, but a fascinating version of the classic tale.
