More firsts!

I did a bit of bird and rabbit hunting the last two days after work.

Here's my first cottontail with a .22lr:

Later that day and the next were spent chasing chukars! Now that is fun! Lots of walking over lots of rocks. We were able to get into a couple of big covey's, but after we got a few and they scattered it got tough. Without a dog, picking up the singles was quite a bit harder. Boy those things like to hide!

The second day I missed a couple of shots, but me and 'Capn' Sluicer'

made up for it with two birds with one shot!

All in all we got 12 birds over two days in only about 5 hours total of hunting, which I think's pretty good. We'd have had more with a dog if it was just to find the couple we shot then lost. I do think I found one more GREAT way to spend time!!!

Congratulations! Now you're in big trouble! No other bird hunting will ever seem as challenging and fun. Try a dog sometime!

Only use shotguns on rabbits before?

Nut- Yep. I also killed one with a bow once, but mostly shotguns and beagles to run them to me.

miller- Just improving my odds! Maybe someday I'll get to where I can knock them out of the air. Heck, right now I'm happy just getting some, birds that is!
