CWD found in 1 elk; ranch quarantined
Kremmling - A ranch has been quarantined after a cow elk at the premises was found to be infected with chronic wasting disease.
The 32-month-old female died Jan. 24 at the Bear Mountain Ranch. Subsequent brain tests were positive for the fatal brain-wasting disease.
State agriculture officials immediately quarantined the remaining 273 animals on the ranch.
