Moosie's 3rd oldest Boy

Congrats to both of you! Way to be for getting kid # 3 on a critter. Too bad #1 and #2 were not there to help you pack.

Yah, I knew the SLAM was going to happen for the no follow up shot right away. I expected a couple for the long shot he took too. I was willing to take heat for both decisions. I've made plenty of worse decisions on hunts unfortunately and this one I'm OK with.

Each situation is different. This one, right or wrong, looked like the bull was down and we could go in for the final shot instead of shooting again at that distance. Had it not gone down, would have been different direction.

Thanks for the input and comments. It was a good break from goat hunting. We took another break earlier and fortunately one of his older brothers was with us. I actually skipped opening of the goat hunt to go shoot these little birds.

........is 18, going to college. Doing a double engineering major and working full time at a Robotics company as a programmer and trouble shooter. His time won't allow hunting this year or the next few years unfortunately.

#2 (Zach) was able to get out on a turkey hunt in the Spring :

Then #3 Parker still has a good deer tag coming up. (Maybe I'll get a goat in between ;) )

The cool part was when we got home all the 3 oldest boys sitting around talking about their Elk. I'm not sure how a guy can fit in so much stuff but if I at least take one out a year they'll all at least have one memory.

O-Towns First:

Many more hunts to come, Couple more "FIRSTS" for elk and many other things. Life's good !!

Not to take away too much from Parker's Elk hunt but since I haven't been around much lately and most know O-Town I thought I'd do a quick update on him as well.

He is now Sponsored by AutoDesk and Skills USA and they sent him to Brazil this year for the Worlds Skills Competition where he helped mentor and work with a College student that was competing and helped in other areas.

Graduated with Honors and Validic"Something or other..... You can tell he got's his Smarts in his Brains from me right ? But he's doing well to say the least. It's a bummer when you're first hunting buddy is busy now but the other ones are kicking trash in his place. Maybe in a few years he'll slow down enough to go with our little Princess on her first hunt.

Moosie, thank you for sharing all the times of your children growing up with us. It's one of the real reasons I joined this site. I would always rather take my children hunting than go hunting myself

Thanks for sharing! What a great family. You're truly blessed.
