Montana Unit 447

Drew a LE elk tag for unit 447 in Montana, seeing if anybody had any advice for that unit or access points to public. If so pm me.

Congratulations on a great tag. I would contact the MT FWP Biologist Sonja Andersen she is a very knowledgeable Biologist and will give you some good starting points. There are some good bulls in there

Thanks for the welcome! I cow hunted in that area last year and was impressed with what I saw. I decided I would start putting in for that area and in the mean time keep cow hunting it to get to know it better. I am dumfounded that I drew this year, thought it would take another 5+ years to draw.

I drew a 447-21 tag as well. Is yours archery or rifle? I’m planning a week long scouting trip in mid-late august and then probably hunt sept 9-29.

Mine is for either, probably going to focus mainly on rifle.

Many knowledgeable elk hunters believe HD 447 has better trophy potential than either HD 410 or HD 380.

And probably better hunting on public land for bigger bulls than the 799-20 tag
