Didn't say that to be snarky, so rereading it I think I should have reworded. But literally, you (or the Mule Deer CAC, or the MDF) can make an email survey and probably send it for free on SurveyMonkey. Ask FWP for emails of every hunter by ALS. The creation of a survey isn't hard. The creation of a survey that people won't find fault with is.

Very true; tell me what you want the answer to be, and I'll design the questions to get that answer.

If you want an honest answer, though, much more difficult. Sampling methodology has to be rigorous (e.g. Harris +3 Iowa), and scales have to chosen carefully (most people don't pick "1" unless they're angry, and few pic "5", so make it 1-7, etc.

Then you have to address confirmation and disconfirmation bias.

My marketing professor was a really cool guy (he had Pepsi and Frito Lay) and was a whiz at this stuff.

Most of the major criticism I have seen was due to FWP classifying 3's as satisfied. That isn't a flaw with the survey. That is a difference in opinion on interpreting the results. I think the rest of this complaining comes from not liking what the responses tell us.

I didn’t take it poorly, I just saw an opening for humor.

In customer service when 5 is outstanding and 1 is terrible a 3 means people are not pleased with your service they’re just not mad enough to go through the emotional hassle of feeling displeasure so they pick a non-committed 3.

Anything other than 4 and 5 should be interpreted as folks having a negative viewpoint on the topic.

The fact that FWP tried to spin it as a vast majority of folks are pleased with their experience hunting mule deer is a clear signal they are opposed to any significant changes that would signal they haven’t done a great job of managing mule deer.

Individual biologists and employees of FWP are doing a good job with their work and probably want to do the right thing for the wildlife they manage. Department leadership prioritizes the image of the department as successful and competent over actually benefiting the resource.

I don't disagree with the general view, but it is not odd that the maker of the survey gets to interpret the results. I ask again, make your own survey. If you don't like the question, you can rephrase it. Personally, I think the question should have never been asked. There were other questions asked that were far more indicative of the views of MT hunters. But the answers might not help the cause.

Not odd at all that the survey giver interprets the results.

What is odd is that the interpreter expects folks to believe that the warm yellow liquid running down their necks actually is sunny rain…😏
