When applying for tags this spring my wife had put in for them on her own as I am out of country right now, she chose 270 as her #1 for elk and of course got it, anyone have any info on the unit they would be willing to share? I know it is mostly weather dependent but nothing more!

Input greatly appreciated folks!

I know a couple guys who have had good luck there and gotten a couple nice bulls. Best of luck to you. I have not spent a ton of time in the district but there are areas where glassing really works because with fires in the recent past some of the areas are pretty open and conducive to glassing.

270 is Unlimited permits . It’s 100% for anyone that applies first choice Guessing there’ll be plenty of hunters

Lots of burn areas.
Good amount of traffic.
Wolf and lion tags are a must.
Check with USFS for gate closures.
Don't speed through Darby.

Yes, she was unfortunately unaware of that but we are going to put the effort in on making the most of it. I have heard lots of pressure from locals, mostly road hunters and outfitters. Also that snow is very dependent on moving the elk into the unit from the west.

Not speeding through Darby is probably the going to be the only easy part of the hunt. Going to put boot miles on, get up high, and just glass until I find them.
