Montana Harvest Statistics

I’m sure most of you who hunt Montana have looked into the harvest statistics that they publish yearly. I’ve got to say, if these numbers are accurate the deer harvest in Region 3 is actually pathetically low. I have mostly hunted the same unit the last 5 years plus and therefore haven’t looked at the numbers generally across the region until this year, but I’ve got to say that they are truly shocking to me.

Are these numbers generated via the phone surveys FWP does? For example, a total deer harvest of 51 deer in general unit 328 seems too low to be true, but unfortunately probably isn’t too far off. Does anybody have insight into these numbers?

Yeh i have insight ... Montana Fwp has no idea how many deer and elk they have or how many are killed in specific areas , they also couldn’t manage a 1 car parade , so having said that I wouldn’t put much stock into any harvest reports !

They numbers are not accurate but the deer hunting does suck and has for decades. Status quo, shoot for buck to do ratios in the less than 10 per 100. Blame it on road access.
