Season has been pretty slow from me this year and I have only been out twice before this morning. My usual spot is pretty weak this year, so I tried a new area. Found a few lopes, but nothing too impressive. That being said I hit the road early this morning and gave it a shot. Things didn't start out well, I broke a rod on my double-bull and now have a very short ceiling.

Things did get better, these guys came in about 8:00. I think there were 4 bucks and 2 fawns.

Interesting horn on the one guy.

Another cocky lope this year.

Decided to let this guy walk.

A few minutes later another group came in and there was a mature doe that I decided to use one of my two doe/fawn tags on. 14 yards was a gimme.

Ready to take a dirt nap.

Didn't take me long to track her. Nice ceiling, huh.

After I dumped the doe, the rest of the critters weren't really sure what had happened. Since temps were pretty low, I decided to hang tight. I had a few bucks come by, but they were very nervous. Not sure if it was my blind or the dead doe sitting in the mud. After about an hour I decided to call it a day. I just got out of the blind and saw a decent lope about 1/4 mile away in headed in my direction. I crawled back into the blind and got ready.

Actually there were two decent bucks in the area. There was one that may have been a shade bigger, but this guy was more dominant and chased the other guy off and came in for a drink. he gave me a shot at 25 yards and took off after arrow impact. I rushed out of the blind with the binos and watched him haul ass to about 250 yards away. I watched him lay down and then I went to work on the doe. After finishing with pics and a quick gut job I glassed back for my buck. I didn't see him, but figured he hadn't gone far. Sure enough he was where I last saw him.

I know when I shot that he was very poor on his cutters, but with a broken blind and my lope trip to WY next Tuesday, I figured he was good enough. He ened up a little longer that I thought with both horns at 14".

Two shots, two recovered arrows, two dead lopes....all within an hour. Not a bad day for me.

Temps started getting up there, so no good shots with my hunting buddy. Here was a quick one just before hitting the road.

I still have a doe/fawn tag in my pocket and may try it out later in the month if I can get my blind fixed.

Good luck to those chasing critters this weekend.

I have a couple extra double bull blind rods if you need a couple let me know. They are good at standing behind their blinds just a little slow some times.

Here are couple interesting pictures from a couple weeks ago. The only real action I had that day.

I heard this guy fly in.

After a few minutes, he got the courage to go for a dip. I had forgotten there was a dead teal in the pond and apparently he was hungry.

Cool pics, and a nice hour of hunting.

I'll be headed east for the rifle opener, hopefully we can tag a few in the two days we will have to hunt and scout a new area.

Nice lopes and pictures. Antelope are something that I would love to see and hunt. Being from the east (NC), you don`t see anything like it. Beautiful animals. Congrates on the double. Taken a bunch of double (daily) whitetail. It`s always fun until the work begins.

Very cool pics. On the pic of the doe while still standing, you can see the shadow of the broadhead on her rear leg.

I like on one of the doe pictures you can see the shadow of the broadhead on her hind leg. Cool picture. I'm still not sure how you people can sit in a hot blind...I mean how do you keep from hallucinating? Man I'd be having all kinds of visions in one of those sweat boxes.
