Montana 2025 Legislative Session

I believe it also includes a muzzy stamp so we can see how many people are participating
I didn’t see that language in that specific draft, but I’m all for it. Not sure FWP collects any data on participation or harvest success with that implement at all.

Hard to kill a mature deer, no matter when you hunt them, if they don’t exist

They exist, just need to lace up your boots and hunt a little harder. They must exist because it’s our birthright to hunt them in the rut. You just need to change your definition of “ juvenile forkedhorn” to “mature buck” and it gets way easier to kill a mature deer…😏

The muzzleloader bill is simply about restoring commission authority and taking the one season set in statute out of the law and placing it where it belongs: with the commission.

It is not about moving the season or extending it. It is about maintaining the ability of the commission to manage hunting seasons rather than having it set in statute and providing commission flexibility based on emerging concerns & needs of the resource. Putting it in the dead week between archery & general rifle would not be well met by the public and is not the intent of the bill.

Figured as much, and too bad.

Agreed on this though.

The last thing any big-game in Montana needs is a break from Aug-February.

We haven’t killed them all yet. Add another rut season. The resource can handle it. After all we have at least 25,000 live bull elk for 200,000 hunters to chase.

"Apart from the early 1900s" I'm glad we care about accuracy here. Interesting to recognize that there was a time to shut off hunting of mule deer.

Thanks for the heads up, emails sent.
And that is not even accurate, season shut down two weeks early in Eastern MT and wasn't extended to the current season until the late 60's or early 70's.

To whom it may concern

139 cleared the committee yesterday at a 11-9 vote. This could be on the floor as soon as Friday. Most of the people on here are aware a group of us are trying to get a new season structure in Montana. 139 is a direct result of that it was put together to stop concerned citizens. Since we are all just a bunch of keyboard warriors here it would be nice if some of you can send some emails to the representatives. I’ll be taking a couple hours tomorrow to do that myself and remember to be nice even when emailing about a bullshit bill that 30+ organizations showed up to speak against.
Call Or text. Emails are mostly unread as we are getting 100’s daily

That's rather disappointing that emails are mostly unread. I get it, but still rather disappointing to hear someone takes the time to put thoughts into an email only to have it not read.
To some degree you can’t blame them when most people start the email off with hello I’m pist because of this. We all need to be better about sending some thank you cards

Legislators get hundreds of not thousands of emails everyday.

The slips on the desk are still a great way to get your voice heard. So are text messages.

SB257, which increases the NR bonus point for Smith River permits passed Senate Fish & game.

SB270 was amended in committee to allow for 4 antlerless tags.

HB71, which allowed for a second lion license failed.
