Modern Wildlife Management Decisions

Dont laugh fellows, this has already been used, to some degree, in 2017 when Miley Cyrus decided to campaign in British Columbia for the elimination of Grizzly Bear hunting.

Dont you guys have something in the States that would keep her occupied and out of Canada

Please !

In Idaho we now use social science instead of strictly biological science (their words) to manage wildlife.
Thanks to our legislature for flipping our game commission with blackmail and strong arm tactics.

You keep the Biebs and nickel back out of the U.S. and we will do our best to keep Miley Cyrus. No promises though.

Scientist rule the world man. Its all subjective since we really have this nature thing figured out right.

Australia was taking one for the team with Chris Hemsworth, but now she's roaming freely again

We don't want her either! We could buy her and 10 of her closest friends one-way tickets to France, maybe I should set up a GoFundMe?

Not hard to figure out on internet forums that most hunters want socially-driven wildlife management, too. It's just a matter of which social group you want making decisions.

QQ
The average hunter yes but I would argue that the average hunter is unfortunately narrow minded.

I agree with @VikingsGuy 's assessment of our trend. But, to some degree social tolerance/management/desire has been a part of how we have managed since the beginning. Initially, sportsmen focused on the game animals they hunted, and not the secondary species that were also in decline. And today public input into the process is part of the democracy of the NAMWC.

All our troubles started with the first 2 minutes of Bambi in 1942. :)

Read an article 20 years ago about how Walt Disney, Mr Rodgers and the Howdy Doody show are at the root of all liberal ideas in the US. I wish I still had a copy, it was unintentionally quite funny.

I think the transverse of this is in play as well, the further you get from larger populations.

We don't actually want scientific management of wildlife. That would mean your opportunity isn't nearly as important as actual biological decisions relative to herd health and distribtution.

We want the social sciences included. That's why we all go to the mats around season setting, etc.
