First, . . . .

I feel this is right given pressure and success rates, but boy this is going to be fighting words for some of the old timers (and the smaller resorts).

And . . .

This one is long overdue.

So we hear you, but f u , we will do what we want….lol

this is a good move. Size and/or slot limits should be a part of it as well.

I understand the guys argument. But I think digital is the way of the future as people don’t like to go to the store and don’t have printers at home. I say this as I have 4 states paper licenses in my wallet, including MN. I think there is a way for both. Iowa has an app, you don’t need a paper license but you have to refresh the app every time you buy a new license or stamp.

Iowa "paper" (plastic) licenses are an abomination even worse than digital, but they can be shoved under a buttplate for some distant generation to discover and ponder many decades later.

And the app and their website are very user unfriendly. Trust me I spent about 4 hours on both today trying to figure out some hunters safety bull crap.

Lowering the walleye limit is pointless. Most people can't catch 6 walleye in a day anyway. The result is going to be negligible.

I know some of the guys who are fishing guides around me who are pushing for the lower limit. They want it because they can't catch a limit with clients. Some of us don't have that problem.

I'm super happy to go to an online licensing system. It's like keeping a deck of cards in my wallet by fall.

Archery deer, firearm deer, bonus tags, disease management deer, fishing, spearing, trout stamp, small game, waterfowl, trapping, otter, fisher, bear, so on and so forth... about time they go online!

Maybe they should go to 2 like Canada is on a lot of lakes. 2 walleyes is plenty of fish for 1 person to eat.

I wish more places had slot limits. 2 fish greater than 15” with only one over 20.

The difference between Canada and Minnesota is that Canada has lots of natural reproduction. Minnesota does not. Most walleye are a result of stocking.

If the limit lowers, they should let you keep more in your freezer. Possession limit should be increased. I love having fish fries with friends and family. It's hard when I'm only allowed to keep and have my 6 walleye. I have to give them to people to hold on to. It's annoying

If you want more after your 2 walleye per day go after Bluegill, perch, crappie, pike or smallmouth bass! They all fry up pretty tasty and 99% of people can’t tell the difference. Or you could buy a fishing license for your wife, girlfriend, kids or whoever and bring them with.

Why isn’t there natural reproduction in Minnesota and there is in Canada? Well, quite simply, the limits are allowing for an unsustainable harvest with the amount of people fishing. The most fertile female walleye are between 18-24”. How many fish survive to that size in Minnesota if there is no slot limit? And they don’t even produce eggs until they are above 14”.

You remind me of all the old crotchety fisherman that come to public meetings for a dam removal project to bitch and moan that removing the dam will ruin their fishing spot. But, I’ve never seen one back 5 years after the removal of the dam and thank the individuals who lead the project when they are still fishing the same spot and it’s better than it was before.
