Metal detecting

Any of you guys into metal detecting? I have wanted to for a long time but wouldn't know where to start in regards to which one a beginner should start out with. Seems like it would be awesome to turn up some old coins around an old house place.

I've metal detected for years. There are lots and lots of detectors. You get what you pay for. Go to a local dealer and get what they recommend. I started with a cheaper one and advanced to a expensive one. The cheap one still works good.

Tools of the trade. Middle metal detector is probably 30 years old. Still works good.

$300.00 to 400.00 would get you a pretty good one depending on what brand you decide on.

We have been investigating the aftermath of the Custer battle and found a few items of historical interest. In 2016 we had the History Channel come to Montana and spent 5 weeks filming a documentary on what happened to the artifacts taken from the soldiers on the battlefield.

The archeologist that was there was using a Minelab 705 and said it was a good detector, so I got one for myself. In the following years we have returned and detected some more of the same sites we did in 2016 and have found some really cool stuff. Once you find the right artifact, you will be glad you have a good detector…

There is a guy who once every year for the past 30 years has been detecting a spot in a field at the end of the road I grew up on. I'd sure like to know what he's after. Guy sure has spent a lot of time there it must be something worth while.
