I'm a big fan of merino wool. My wife turned me onto it grew years ago when she got me some first lite clothing. I have beaten them to death. They all have holes in them at this point.

So I'm on the hunt to replace what I have. I don't need first lite. I don't need a hunting brand. I don't need camo. Just some bland colors like light brown, green, tan.

Any brand out there that's decent and doesn't break the bank that you guys use?

REI sales.
+1 for REI sales. If you’re a member, you’ll also get an annual 20% off coupon for one full price item.

I’ve purchased several smartwool tops on sale during their seasonal sales (Memorial Day etc).

At the risk of setting off a huge HT debate, I’ll also plug Kuiu. Their price points on merino wool base layers are excellent for what you get. They also do seasonal sales and offer discounts to veterans, LE, and industry employees if you’re fortunate enough to be in one of those groups.

Another vote for black ovis. Also have some REI I like and some smart wool. My only issue with my smartwool is it starts to stink after a couple days. Might not be 100% merino, it’s pretty old at this point.

I’ve had good luck with merino tech from amazon. Bought another pair this fall, midweight base layer with a pair of midweight merino socks on sale for $80.

I don’t shop at REI any more after they stopped carrying Camelbak to try to force Vista Outdoors to divest of their firearms holdings. If they’re so anti-gun that they cancel products, then I’ll extend them the same courtesy and spend my money elsewhere.

I’ve had good luck at Goodwill. I got a First Lite merino shirt a couple weeks ago for $4.

My camofire / black ovis hoodies are doing OK. Some holes, but not awful.

Have an older first lite I got on sale somewhere that has a couple holes. Fray check has stopped them, but I need to stitch them closed.

But neither pick up much stink, which is what I need.
