Didn't Obama say something about Americans or the world being "mostly good people"?
Whether we have been a mostly good or mostly scared people, I worry the reason more assassination attempts like this one and the one on our 45th and 47th president of these fine United States haven't happened is simply because people haven't tried.
I worry about copy cats and an increased police/security state.
I think I read an article about execs stepping up their security details in lieu of this and it makes me sad.

That's some deep sh*t. My only point would be we still have free will and choose to give away any agency. Lamenting about it later doesn't change the fact it was given up freely. No different than me choosing to log on to HT. Definitely a rabbit hole, but one no one is willing to regulate their way out of.

In my loan underwriting career I’ve looked at the financials for many nonprofits and have been surprised more than once what percentage of the total grants, donations, etc. are going to the salaries of the top few employees. Especially so if the primary funds received were government money.
