McMorris Rodgers...Thoughts?

So to wrap this one up, McMorris Rodgers wants to sell off public lands, Trump wants whatever the people asking him that day wants, nobody likes either (at least as it relates to public lands).

Were there any names floating around that had a legitimate chance of getting the position that would be favorable? Not sure if there is any chance she doesnt get Senate confirmation, but if she doesnt, it would seem to be a good idea to have someone to recommend.

Oneye,

You could say the very same thing about Trump, that had a different Republican been nominated, they would have swept the floor with Hillary and she would have lost the popular vote in addition to the electoral vote. We can do all sorts of HT forum debating, but at the end of the day Trump will be moving into the White House shortly.
I don't agree but we'll leave it there. Back to public lands.

Every person on his short list were terrible picks. There wasn't one I would have liked to see. Criticize Obama all you want but Secretary Sally Jewell has done an amazing job. She is sincere in her position and I believe tries to listen to everyone at the table equally. She visited Utah to hear all sides of Bears Ears, and to go from that to this Trump pick is going to be devastating to public lands. There is really no chance Trumps picks won't get confirmation. Democrats did the stupid thing the last time around and instead of needing 60 votes for confirmation, now presidents only need 51 votes for confirmation. Democrats can drag the process out and slow down his progress but I don't know that the political risk is worth it because eventually every one of Trumps picks can be confirmed with 51 republican votes which he has. Who he picks is what we get....sad I know.

My Senators will be fighting this and most nominees of his I believe.
Not that it will do much good, the writing is on the wall. In feces...

I am sorry and not sorry I never had kids.
I fear for my country and the future of my nieces & nephews. At least I got to show some folks the wonders of our Public Lands.
When the fools I see around me who love the Don are left holding their limp dicks in their hands and have no access to any land they do not own,let alone a cattle lease that they have for nothing,at least I will get a chuckle.

I will continue to use the same public lands I always have, consiquences be damned!

Agreed.

You can type and send e-mails to Wyoming's delegation until your fingers fall off. What you'll get as a reply about public lands from Senators Enzi and Barrasso and Congress person Lummis and her replacement..Liz Cheney...is a note saying that the transfer of National Forest and BLM lands to the State of Wyoming is what's best for the State of Wyoming. The State will manage the lands better than the Federal Government. There is NO mention of providing or keeping access for any outdoor activities. We be screwed.

Regardless of where we are, the next 4 years is reality. It's time to double and triple down on everything we do to ensure public lands remain public. That includes calling and contacting your representatives, signing petions, joining BHA, TRCP, TU, and RMEF in there fight for public lands and the wise management of them, and educating and activating people you know to do the same. Give some gift memberships this year to BHA and others. Trump said he wouldn't transfer or sell our public lands, now it's time to hold him to it. Continuing to put pressure on the NRA to voice opposition to this is another thing we can do. Get involved, stay involved, and don't let up. It's gonna be a long 4 years in some ways, it's just time to accept it and do what all of us can to smash this idea once and for all.TRCP has some decent gifts with donations right now to anyone interested.

I want to expand just a little on your mention of the NRA. This won't earn me any friends and quite honestly (I don't care), but no amount of pressure can be applied to that organization unless it's something they will truly understand, Ending your Membership. They will never ever take a position to save our public lands until they feel it in the pocket book, it just won't happen. It's been said over and over and over again on this forum that being good on guns is no longer enough, well those are just words unless you follow through, and IMO the only way NRA will get the message and help in the fight to save our public lands is through our actions, not our words. Quite honestly, just keep sending them your money if that's what you choose to do, but don't complain because they're only good on guns, because that won't ever change.

Agreed, there's no more Hillary and no more Obama, drop your membership and let them know why and that you want to support them but you need there support too.
