this deer was found dead by a young boy....it had been shot while still in velvet by a poacher about ten years ago.
to give some idea how big this buck is.....thats a 170 class buck(canada) sitting inside of the big one.
if you notice the T1-11 plywood its leaning on, those planks are 8" wide and the rack almost covers four boards.

Damm JB.. Was it found on the eastshore?? That thing was a toad! Just from the little areas that I have seen so far getting around to I can see where there is a good chance of some real toads to be lurking in some of these river bed areas. Some of it is like being in a rain forest. you get that one your after yet?

RR, that deer was found not far from you....Upper Marlboro (sp)i believe.
no i havnt got him yet.working on that without over-hunting him. ;)

Maryland's tradition of producing great whitetails was upheld in 2002, as Kevin Miller shot the all-time No. 2 East Coast typical. Photo courtesy of Kevin Miller.
Petey Councell's 10-pointer stands as the archery state record, at 183 3/8 typical. Jay Downes bagged a 173-inch 4x4 with his shotgun. Muzzleloader hunter Bill Shields got a 22-point 199 3/8-inch non-typical. And shotgunner Walt Lachewitz's 185 7/8-inch 5x5 currently stands as the overall state record in the typical category. And to think these bucks all came from a state of only 9,838 square miles!

If you look at entries in the B&C and P&Y record books on a per-square-mile basis, Maryland is faring pretty well. In fact, when I looked at all entries from both books back in 1996, only two states -- Wisconsin and Illinois -- had entered more deer than Maryland, mile for mile. Although I haven't run the numbers lately, I feel certain Maryland still holds its own.

Maryland's middle and upper Eastern Shore counties. Deer densities well above 30 per square mile are the norm, and on some private lands they might exceed 100 deer per square mile.

JB,
That's a great buck!! Damn shame some slimeball had to end it's life illegally!
I agree with you, Md's gett'in better & better with it's trophy potential.
Just this week some guy got a 23" wide 8 pt. just south of the Balto. City line.
The counties surrounding Balto. City are producing some real toads, but, it's mostly in urban areas where bowhunting is the only option.
I'm seeing plenty of deer every time I go out, but, no shooters as yet!!:)

Buckrub, two years ago a huge deer with big palmated antlers was taken just south of the city line also......and i mean huge. good luck!

JB,
Check this out. My son told me that coming home last night, late, from work he saw 2 good bucks and 4 does brousing along the side of Hanover St., between Harbor Hospital and Brooklyn!!! Now that's Balto. City !!!
"Cherry Hill" deer, probably feeding on chicken bones & carp carcasses!!

i had a friend of mine tell me the same thing about cherry hill, i figured they were hooked on crack.
also there is deer at the carrol park golf course.....might be closer to you Bambistew.

There you go, Bambistew. You could carry your bow with your clubs the next time you "shoot nine holes" and maybe shot a 10th hole!!!:D
