Market Value check on a couple guns for a friend

My buddy's dad thinks it is time to thin out the herd so he can add a 6mmARC.

2005 made Ruger #1 Varminter in 223 with a Vortex Diamondback 4-12. Walnut and Blued.

S&W 686+ 357Mag revolver 3" Stainless (aftermarket grip that I forget the brand)

Both seem to be in good to great condition. I'm waiting for pictures but I don't know the market for these.

On the 686 is there a barrel length? stainless or blue?

Purely anecdotal but when I was looking at No. 1s to convert for my stalking rifle project, seemed like $1500 was bare minimum. Many ran well north of that depending on specific model.
