Harvest is under way here on the farm. Some days start at 4 am before the onions get too hot, then the combines run until 10 or 11 pm while things are good and dry. We had a couple of days with nothing to harvest so my wife and I, along with my youngest son and daughter-in-law went camping. It's a pretty small river and the trout seemed smaller than normal, but still offered great therapy and much needed sanity. You've all seen little trout, but here's my smallest and an average one. We kept a few 10 inchers and maybe it's just the mountain effect, but they sure tasted good.
This part of eastern WA is away from any towns and very dark at night so I decided rather than sleep, I'd try to get a photo of the Milky Way.
The next morning after a few more small trout, my daughter-in-law wanted to go on a hike, so I took them up the canyon a little higher to a horse/hiking trail.
It was a quick trip with less than 36 hours off the farm, but I was a little less grouchy the next morning at 4 am (I think). A few more pics.
That canyon sure was peaceful, enjoying the quietness of the night - and no cell phone signal!
