Leupold VX-3HD vs VX-3i

I have a couple 3i they have good enough glass to take any shot during legal shooting hours in my experience.
Agree. I have 2 also a 170680 3.5-10 and a 170702 4.5-14, but have not hunted with either one. Also have a Leupold 180623 VX3-HD 4.5-14 x 40 CDS-ZL Wind-Plex still NIB that I have not decided where to put it so it's still on my bench.

Have those exact features in a 3i on a .257 Wby Mag...the perfect scope were it FireDot.

I have the vx3I on a 308 that I have hunted a lot with and a vx3hd on a 257 weatherby that I set up this spring. I have not hunted with the 257 and vx3hd yet but have shot a lot with it and the vx3hd is a much better scope. it’s a lot clearer at distances 300 yards plus you really see the difference. Not to knock the 3i I have hunted a lot with that set up and it’s always done very well but I think the 3hd is only a little more price wise and is a much better scope

VX-3i vs VX-3HD in 2.5-8x36. Could not tell the difference. Appeared identical in glass and performance. The new dial and the throw lever are great. Could not feel the 1/2 ounce more weight in the HD. I could not see any reason to upgrade since I do not dial my 2.5-8. Short range hunting scope.

Side x side comparison between either VX-3 and the VX-5HD in 2-10x42 and the VX-5 wins easily. It is just better.

VX-3i vs the Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32 or 2-10x40. The Razor is also better. Broader range, clearer glass. The 8x version is 2 ounces heavier than the VX-3i or 1.5 ounces heavier than the VX-3HD. The 2-10 is 2 additional ounces. I love the Razor HD LH scopes with the 1" tubes. They were a great deal when they were discontinued in favor of the much heavier LHT. The turrets are not great compared to the VX-3HD but again, I do not dial scopes in this magnification range.
