Lessons learned from MG scouting trip

Well lets finish up this thread. Not sure why all these mountain goat threads just turn to crickets?

Just saw the 2024 Mountain Goat measurements and saw someone got a great late season Billy in your unit. Hoping it was you.
Either way would love to hear how the adventure went for you.
I actually just posted the hunt recap, "Montana MG hunt recap" is the name of the post.

Couple other things I wanted to add, for those who draw a tag in the future. Get yourself a lightweight rifle for the hunt. I used my old Remington 700 7mm, with the wood stock for my hunt. It weighed in just over 10 pounds. I really wished I could have dropped about 3-4 pounds of rifle weight to bring other stuff on the hunt, primarily, my water bladder instead of my Nalgene bottle. Which leads me to my other point, looking back, I would have brought an empty cup with me, and used it to get immediate drinks from the creek, making oatmeal in, measuring out water of my mountain house meals, etc, while carrying my water bladder. My bladder is a 3L bladder and I did not think I would need that much, but I spent a lot of time above any water source and had to ration my water.
