Anyone own one of these legacy escort extreme shotgun in semi auto 12 gauge? Looking to retire my old browning until I can get the wood fixed on it. Pistol grip is starting to split on it. Can only imagine how many shotgun rounds were ran through it when I was younger. I don’t do a lot of bird hunting anymore so not looking to spend a ton on a shotgun. Our local runnings carries these and has a pretty good sale on them right now so was curious what you guys though of them. Will he used for upland game birds, turkeys, and maybe some waterfowl this year

@brockel Don’t know how I missed this before now. I own a LH Legacy (Hatsan is the Turkish manufacturer) Escort Magnum Supreme in 12 gauge. Have owned it for quite a few years now and have thousands of rounds through it with no problems. I have two other shotguns (O/U and Ithaca Model 37, both also in 12 gauge), but mostly shoot the Escort. Going duck hunting next month and the Escort will be in the blind with me. Wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to buy another one,

If you're "old Browning" is an A5, I share your pain ... or I did. I bought an after market plastic stock set for mine (Champion, formerly Ram Line). It is the answer to the design issues with A5 stock and fore end. Stock is held on with a tang screw through the pistol grip which makes it vulnerable to cracking. The barrel ring slams forward into fore end wood every time the gun cycles. Eventually the walnut breaks down. Champion no longer makes that plastic stock set which is understandable. Mine required many hours of modification to the fore end before it would fit. My suggestion would be to buy a laminate stock set from Boyds. You will need to remove the magazine cap locking pin, spring, and housing from the old fore end and put it in the new one. Or watch on ebay for a beater fore end and salvage the pin set from it (lots of cracked fore ends coming up for sale all the time). I think laminated wood would hold up well on both ends and that gun would last you the rest of your life.

I don't know about the Hatsan auto but guys at the club have had a LOT of trouble with their O/Us. One fella with a Mossberg made by Hatsan replaced the broken firing pins three times before finally throwing in the towel and buying a Browning. If you are considering Turkish, ATA has the best track record. I think they still make Weatherby's shotguns.

I had a left hand semi auto. I liked it, never had a bit of trouble with it. I shot every thing from light trap loads to 3in mag duck loads. They all shot the same. For the money it was a very good gun.

If you need a guy to do stock repair, let me know and I’ll send you some contact info.
