Late ice pike

Screw Huey. Nice guy. I've met him and actually had a beer with him. Took him duck hunting on a place I was working on. When he bought his property everything was off limits. Glad the stream access is a thing. mtmuley

Hell yeah good thing. He tried pushing it.

So did few other landowners. I know all of them personally through work projects. I will say though without the ownership of these people on the river from Corvallis to Stevensville it would be way different. mtmuley

Meaning more ranchettes?

our live bait was 10-12” suckers.

Those are some big suckers, dang. Any issues with them tripping your tipups being that big? I use Beaver Dams, which are pretty stout- I’m not sure even with the flag in the slot that it would hold all the time.

Pickled pike sounds amazing. Tell me more
It’s pretty good snack on a hot summer day. The pickling process dissolves the y-bones in pike so it’s a method people use especially on the smaller pike that are harder to filet without y-bones. There are a lot of variations if you do a google search, but when in doubt Hank Shaw has a recipe!

Looks great. I need to get after some this spring. And Hank compares pike to GWAR! I’m game!!!

Yep. If you trim their tail they have a little less power but what I ended up doing was just let them swim to the bottom and then they would be content. I’ve heard of people using down rigger clips as well.
