I leave tomorrow morning for Alaska on a caribou hunt. Was planning on bringing a .22 for Ptarmigan, but also just decided that i am bringing my bow along too. With that being said, while carrying a bow, i'd prefer my 10mm with me. Or i could meet somewhat in the middle and bring a 9mm. of those three options, which would you do? Oh, and also my dad is bringing his .22 revolver.

Good luck on the caribou hunt. Hope to see pics!

I say use your dads .22 if you get tired of losing arrows but you gotta use your bow first… that is why you brought it, after all.. I’d feel a lot better having a 10mm on me out there

if you got a rifle take a 22. Ptarmigan and grouse can break up monotony quite well up there.

Just decided?... just checking have you done the mandatory bow hunting alaska course? I thought about bringing it last year but opted against it when I learned about the class requirements.

As far as I could tell, Alaska recognizes approved bow hunter and hunter education from other states.

The largest grizzly ever killed in Alberta, which stood as the world record for a time, was killed by a little old lady with a single shot .22

You know what you have to do.

...nah bring the 10mm
