Took the dogs to the river and it's Nixons first look at water. Nixon was a little cautious but with koda's help he managed to get soaked. On the path to the river I placed a couple drops of pheasant scent when the dogs were ahead of me. On the way back I walked Nixon right over one of the spots. He stopped dead in his tracks, didn't have a clue what to do but new he should be doing something. He got a little woody tail going and sounded like a hover sniffing for all he was worth. Koda was locked onto the second spot and Nixon joined him there. The pup shows promise and watches Koda's every move intently while we're out. Now if I can only get him to look the other way when Koda's being a duck arse I'll have a chance to break a couple bad habits before he learns them.
