Better get in line. It’s a $50 deposit and it takes 5-6 years. I’m a year or two in on the wait.

Yup! It wouldn't be terrible. I have another Customer Maker up here in Alaska that I just missed his books and asked him to let me know when they open as he is 6-7 years.

The custom I'll get end of this year I was supposed to get last year but the maker (a Forged in Fire Champ too) had heart Surgery and was down for months. He is back up making knives so I'm excited for that!

I can’t bring myself to use it. Maasai-made, bought by my missionary friend. Sheath and handle are wood covered with stretched hide.

The first..my always carry, custom Dan-D. Was my Dads...love this knife. Excellent skinner
and the second is a WK Knife. Walt Kneubuhler was also a custom knife builder. Not to be confused with Winkler. This is knife Ive had for over 40 yrs.
Dad and Walt were friends and Walt built this knife for me. Both are beyond razor sharp and have skinned many a deer. Rest assured ill have both for my 2023 Elk hunt

3 from Mr. Gene Ingram arrived this week. He’s retired now I think I’ll be one of the last ones to get a custom from him. Waited two years and sent him a nice set of ironwood burl scales to use.

As a part time knife maker myself ( 100 or so in the last 3 years) I use Desert ironwood about 90% of the time anymore. Hard as steel damn near and naturally stable. The family hates the smell when I am sanding it out but it has grown on me, I like it now.

Those are great looking knives.

OOOOHHHH YEA!!!! I have several 'fancy knives' and they all have officially seen Caribou Blood. I regularly pull out my sliciest knife (Sheep Horn Wilderness Explorer by Bark River Knives) as my go to 'carving knife'. I used it in the field this last time and was super excited and impressed with it - see photo below.View attachment 165439

I have a few others but these are my primaries. I have a couple more and I'm looking to get a Hinderer XM-18 3.5 Spear Point or Bowie which is a folder but I plan to use it on animals as well. In some ways its more expensive to do the knives just because it is 'easier' to justify just a few hundred dollars here and there. hahaha.

Yeah, I am pretty fond of Bark River knives. One of my main go-tos when breaking down an animal is the Bark River Drop Point Hunter. Great edge retention and blade geometry.
I also carry a couple of my self-forged knives.

You guys have some cool looking knives! Yrs ago I bought an 1950 Ford panel truck. Under the seat I found an old Marine Crops K-Bar knife. Unfortunately I lost it sometime later. So a few yrs ago. I bought a new K-Bar.

Another Cross: Boys Hunter in Rams Horn. I didn't think I'd like this but when it was given to me I fell in love. My EDC and I'll be taking it into the mountains for sheep probably since it is so light and sharp.

Lon Humphrey Minigun in Desert Ironwood from my lovely bride and a Strider SnG from a friend (I bought it but he made me one great deal) Love the blade on that Minigun and I'm carrying today as in the knife communities I'm in it is "Wood(scale) Wednesday".

the collection - I have sold 2-3 of these and am Carrying the big Moran Bowie on top for Bear Baiting right now - I may move a couple more here soon and cut this back a little.

HA! Possibly but unlikely. I love my Cross Knives. I really like the Bark River Knives - but there is something special about the geometry on those Cross'. Pete gets those down pat - that rough leather Hunter is probably my best hunting knife.
