Knife restoration

Thanks very much chaps, your advice is most welcome.

I think I have a knife that would work, it was bought by me 45 years ago!
It had a metal sheath which has been disposed of.
I bought it on a school trip to Belgium.
Since then it has been at the bottom of a rusty tool box, I will put up a photo, I have already removed the surface rust, soaked in vinegar and used wire wool, not sure if that was correct?

Cheers
Richard

Here is another w/o the nice cat. I would scream if he used MY files like that.

Make sure you are starting with a blade that is worthy of the time you will invest. I'm doubtful that the second video is one I would invest in.

Also, before you start, note what, if any flat faces and lines may be original to the blade. Be careful to preserve those. The guy with the cool cat does a very nice job of that. The guy in the second video does not.

The contrast between the two videos is worth noting.
