I had a kimber 84m, $1100 1-1/2” piece of junk. I also have a $400 savage 110 that put the first 10 shots into 3/4”.

That is really Savage's strength. I have yet to hear anyone complain about their accuracy.I had a kimber 84m, $1100 1-1/2” piece of junk. I also have a $400 savage 110 that put the first 10 shots into 3/4”.

I've got two Kimber 1911's, one in 45 and one in 9mm. Both have performed flawlessly. The 45 is my everyday carry. Knock on wood I guess, never an issue with any of them.I had a roundabout with Kimber on a high end 1911 .45 that was resolved to my satisfaction. A Montana 7-08 went in a trade for something I wanted more but it shot and cycled fine. The Classic 300 Win Mag in the safe is among my favorites.
Why? mtmuleyI also prefer controlled action feed which the Kimber is based on.
Just what I grew up with. Never have to worry about short stroking a second round in the heat of the moment and getting a jam. Lot of really good rifles out there that are push feed to be sure so I don't have anything against them per se. Just not what I am used to.Why? mtmuley
A Kimber is a rifle. A Savage is an amalgam of parts cobbled together in order to deliver a bullet accurately with a minimum of time and expense.Looking for my next whitetail rifle. If you had your option, would you go Kimber 84m Classic or the Savage 110 Long Range Hunter. My LGS has both.
Don't hold back!A Kimber is a rifle. A Savage is an amalgam of parts cobbled together in order to deliver a bullet accurately with a minimum of time and expense.
Personally, I would entertain neither, but each has its purpose.
