Jicarilla and Mescalero Cow Hunts

How was that? I can't tell if its actually open still or not.
The casino has been closed since covid. We go to Chama every year (since 1990) for my annual elk hunt, and made a trip to Dulce for the casino once or twice each time just for something to do before and after the hunt. The hotel used to be a Best Western, but has since changed it's name. Restaurant in Hotel is pretty good, and the "Sports Bar" next to the hotel is great for watching football during hunting season and grabbing burgers and fries. Raiders and Cowboys are the most favored teams there. There is even a chinese restaurant about 3 miles east of town if you want something else.

It looks like the Jicarilla recommends staying the lodge in Chama or pagosa springs due to lack of a hotel now. @wind754 do you have a picture of your bull?

Who has drawn either of these hunts for cow elk? Do you have a tribal guide you recommend or better yet one you want to avoid? Looking to hopefully draw one of these and put some meat in the freezer this fall. Thanks
Did you end up going? How was your experience?

I did end up drawing a cow tag but unfortunately ended up having a surgery 3 days before leaving and did not make it out. Hopefully I can draw another one this year and actually go.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Which one did you end up drawing on? I'm looking to put in for 2025. Have been communicating with a Mescalero guide but according to another thread looks like Jicarilla has a guide that is awesome. I may put in for both.
