Jeep Talk

I wish we still had Purple Jeep. My dad bored out the original AMC V8 to a 390 My mom and dad were in a Jeep Club, and used to race. Mom did barrel races, and dad ran the Mint 400 a few times as well as a few other random desert races in WR and OR. Someday I'll get one for shits and giggles

Mom would have been 81 today.

My uncle had a AMC jeep with a 304 thing was slick.

Here is the other 1979, this was the silver anniversary. I swapped a bunch of parts between the two in order to put the silver anniversary back to original. I ended up selling it to my brother who finished it also with the same silver paint job. My wife driving.

Pretty lady..
Thank-you. Her beauty runs deep as this morning she is driving a homeless downtrodden fellow in our 2018 Jeep Wrangler to Helena so that he can take driving and written tests to renew his commercial drivers license. She became aquainted with him as he was living out of his car near the little schoolhouse museum where she volunteers. She found him a church basement to live in this winter and helped him find a potential job and with various legal issues which put him in this predicament. Jokingly, I call her program to help the homeless, "One Derelict at a Time!"

Anyhow, that's how she's using her newer Jeep. 'Hope she doesn't scare him.

Good for you straight, I too am familiar with the concept of character/beauty outkicked coverage...

We have a Wrangler but like Buzz says, it's a grocery getter. About the only off road use ours gets is driving farm lanes.
I do like to drive the thing in town because it turns on a dime and you can easily get in and out of any parking spots.

They ride like a log wagon and the cabs are very narrow. No room for much of anything and the back seat is nearly unusable for adults.
It's just a toy for us. Had a Mustang convertible before this and bought the Jeep so we could drive something year round. Jeep is also fun with the top off, but the hard top is a pain in the rear to take on / off and eats up some space wherever you store it.

When it's time for a hunting or fishing trip I take my 4wd half ton truck w/ topper.

Same...

Those new jeeps are not really jeeps they are fancy nice smooth easy riding jacked up cars. Been watching off road recovery on YouTube and you better carry a welder and a few other things when your front end breaks.
I have a '47 Willys. Now that thing is a true Jeep and all steel. Need to get it running. I was really wanting one of those nice new Jeeps but after watching different videos and seeing the same dang thing break and the price. I'll pass and keep my Toyotas.;)

We are doing a project for a client that has 3 Wranglers with the 392 Hemi. One is highly modified. It will drag a Willy's places it can't go. Not exactly a mall crawler. mtmuley

....drooled over a few 392 videos.

My wife's unmodified 2015 Wrangler would drag those old CJs backwards uphill until the CJ was upside down. You can always find a place where one rig is better than another but if those old Jeeps didn't break, they would not be sitting around rotting.
It is like comparing an old Camaro to a new Camaro, the old ones are way cooler, but the new one will do anything better including pick up girls under the age of 60. Just opinion, no scientific studies to support it that I am aware of.

Where are these jeeps you're talking about (other than JR's photo, that's a jeep)?

I had a 51 willy's, that's a jeep, these things are grocery getters.
Don’t listen to buzzz….he just mad cause he now drives a Subaru…. ;)
