Back in the 30's my great grandad would lead all the family down to the desert to get jackrabbits. They hunted them in the day and spotlighting at night. They ate every one and were glad to have them. One night they got 87. Somewhere there's a picture I hope to find of those 87 dressed and skinned hanging on a barbwire fence. My grandad used to say he knew times were getting better when he saw a jackrabbit running across the desert and there were only 12 guys chasing it.

In this picture there's my great grandad, grandmother, great uncles, uncles and my dad on the far right. He's 87 now and still hunts. He got a muley buck last year and is in the draw for Wyoming antelope with me for this year.

Love the photo. Can't wait for the one with jack rabbits on the fence! Fortunately for today's kids, the jack rabbit population is as strong as ever and they provide ample shooting opportunities for the kids and their parents.
