It looks like there are "exotics" on public land in Texas.......

I got drawn for a Scimitar Horned Oryx hunt in 2015. It was in early September so it was still hot. We saw a fair number but didn't get a good opportunity. Still had a great time.

Texas Parks and Wildlife website. You can sign up to receive notices. The application process opens in July. You’ll need a Texas hunting license and the separate annual public hunt permit if you get drawn.

There are specific exotic hunts, and also on some of the deer hunts you’re also allowed to shoot exotics, javelinas, hogs etc if you see them. I was drawn for a deer hunt at Enchanted Rock and they told us to shoot any aoudad on sight because they consider them an invasive species and want to get rid of them.
Is the AHP required in order to buy a chance at the draw? Or can it be obtained after the draw if you win? Thx

The e-postcard selection hunts require you to have a APH permit to put in for them, but each individual application for a e-postcard hunt is free once you have the APH. Everything under the "Special Permit Hunts" and "National Wildlife Refuge" hunts of the drawn hunt catalog, which account for the majority of the Texas drawn hunts, do NOT require you to have an APH permit for the application or the hunt.

Many thanks for this specific clarification! Much appreciated.
