Iraqi Election`s

Don't care what we did in the past. Do care that Bush Sr. stopped and listened to the UN and didn't TCOB when we had the chance. It cost us lives. As for how we treat prisoners it should be based on how our enemies treat us. If they cut off heads then we start with the balls in front of all the prisoners and work our way up. Don't care much for world opinion if it ends up killing our soldiers. Do care about crushing our enemies so they never forget. We are becoming a nation of weak willed people who lack the stomach for the hard times. In wartime people need to keep the petty politics to themselves until the troops get home then have at it. I thought the goal of the Iran-Contra deal was to get the hostages free, negotiated before Reagan was even President (?).

I believe we even armed Mao and Ho during WWII.

Iran- Contra was done during Ronald Reagan's Presidency. We have put money and arms into both sides of a couple of conflicts. Probably more times than any of us know. Doesn't make it right. It has also blown up in our faces quite a few times. It is also the reason we are hated in many places right now. We screw around too much thinking we know best. Then problems arise and we claim purity. Think back in history and there are numerous leaders that we have "helped" gain power only to have them stab us in the back. We get ourselves in the middle of things and then get both sides to hate us. Our foreign policy has sucked for years.

What is the point of arguing opinions on here. The fact is the Elections are a step toward Iraq foward. Not sure if this means our troops will come home next week or in a few years, but either way it is a step foward.....

Right?????????

WH Outdoorchick- I agree the elections are a step. History will tell if it is a step forward. I would think it is, I'm just not sure. It is very difficult to change a 1000 years (or more) worth of ideas a people have. My biggest concern is we stay over there until things are fixed and they never mend. Vietnam was one example of this happening. Others also come to mind. We stay there for years, losing countless Americans, until another administration decides they've had enough and leave. Let's hope it doesn't happen here also.

MattK,
I sure am glad your attitude didn't win out after WWII. We would never have had the fortitude to stay the course while the Marshall plan was being implemented. You must not travel around the world much if you think the U.S. is hated everywhere. That is simply not true. There are many place in this world who still admire our country for what we stand for. I feel sorry for you if you believe only what the liberal mainstream media feeds you.

Instead of FM radio maybe you should spend a few bucks on XM.

I would have to agree! hump

I would say this to all of the debate going on right now.
If it hadn't been for 911 and the history that was starting to be created by these people, we would not be over there now. But we are, I really doubt this will turn into a Vietnam. It isn't even close to the same thing. We are only mucked down in this because the media say's we are.
How long did we hang around Germany after the Second World War?....
How long did we hang around Japan after the Second World War?....
I whole lot longer than we have been doing any thing in this country.
Of course there are other atrocities going on in other parts of the world, but none of them have openly attacked us.
Why was it that we stayed out of WWII?
Why was it that we finally got off our Asses during WWII?
So many questions, so many easily answered answers.... :)

And no compliments from those... I mean complaints from those that think this war was unjust???
The silence of this topic from those that disagree really speak volumes for the truth... :)
