166 Hippos. Auction for tags seems to me like a more practical idea than paying a veterinarian to sterilize a hippo.

Good PR opportunity for conservationists to demonstrate efficacy of hunting pertaining to environmental protection.

Or a funny read.
(Well, maybe not for the guy who was chased by one.)

The hide has to have some sort of value. Teeth are ivory if I'm not mistaken.

No, sterilizing the 8,000 pound animals is more practical than letting hunters pay to come shoot them...

Hilarious article. Was posting it when this popped up as similar.

What kind of cartridge could take down a hippo? .458? .416? .50BMG.....

Can you imagine the story.....
New guests walk into your house...
"Wow, is that a real hippo head?"

"Yea, took him in Colombia"

"But hippos aren't in Colombia."

"He was one of Escobar's that became a nuisance"

Silence. Astonishment. Admiration. Jealousy.

"Yep, took him with a 6.5 Creedmoor."

(Ebay receipt seen laying on floor)

I saw Pablo's Hippopotamus open for Mr. Bungle in an abandoned water park outside of Clearwater FLA in 94.

Can recommend.

Issue tags, feed some people. Hippo isn't bad eating.
I bet it’s be like wagyu beef. They just float around all day, eating all night. Up to 110 pounds per night of grass according to the Google machine
