Input on damaged rifling

Interesting to say the least.

It shoots pretty good! If it ain't broke don't fix it! It's actually pretty impressive it shoots like it does with that decoration in there lol

Believe me, I mulled it over for a while and the thought of those multiple "decorations" coming loose is what made up my mind to send it in.

See, if it weren't for that dang suppressor, it wouldn't even be a problem. Good luck. Hope that next one shoots well. I bet you'll look anyway, its in your blood now.
I take a peek at all of them, it's an affliction i guess. Look at how ugly the original Marlin 60 w/microgroove barrels are. I'll bet most members on here own one and have no clue they are shooting lead through a really accurate cheese grater. 😄🤣 i love my wood stock 60s!1736729301520.jpg1736729306920.jpg

Thats why those MG guys use oversize lead bullets, to fill in the grooves real good. I prefer Ballard myself. I looked down the barrel of a Rem Sendero during break in and could not believe all the dang copper is catching. I try not to look now. If it shoots, it shoots.

I feel like most people would look at some deep imperfections on the exterior finish and not buy the gun based on that. I don’t disagree with sending that one back.
Absolutely, who would buy a new rifle knowing the barrel had such factory imperfections. In this case, it was only through inspection with a borescope the owner was able to uncover the defects.

While inspecting a spark plug can tell you a lot about what's going on inside a combustion engine, inspecting a barrel can tell you much about what's been happening inside it. In each case, it becomes a matter of knowing what to look for.

Interesting. I'm looking for an issue with a rifle that should be a tack driver. I've been thinking about a bore scope to take a look. Anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive bore scope? I'll probably check a few bores and stick it in a drawer.

Thanks. Just ordered it for overnight delivery. If it doesn't ship USPS it will be here in the morning.
