Independent contractor at local home improvement store

Stopped at the local home improvement store for a few items yesterday and witnessed the most infuriating display of human behavior. There were two individuals wearing the "independent contractor" vests prowling the aisle trying to sell solar systems with the "sky is falling" method of sales. The worst part was the woman doing it totally pissed me off as I watched her zero in on older ladies and would not stop when told no thank-you. It got to the point that I lost it and went full "Chad/Karen" on her in front of everyone in the checkout lanes over her insistent high pressure sales technique. The woman told me she was only doing the job that the store hired her to do. I am done shopping there if that is truly the case as any store that would encourage behavior like I saw yesterday does not align with my values.

Rant complete.

She was full of it. Awhile back I was sitting on my mom’s couch when she got a knock on the door. Door to door people selling solar. They gave their sales pitch about how the utility I work for is involved in all of it and blaa blaa blaa. Funny thing is my utility has nothing to do with them and they have been contacted by the attorney to stop. Also mom is on the rea system so none of it made sense. Solar sales people are con artists

Lowes?

Yep. Makes fir a great shopping experience. Lady was worse than a used car salesman. Not a great business strategy imo.
Don't insult used car sales persons. This wench was about to see my physically violent side that hasn't made an appearance since my 20's.

I go to places to purchase products and don't need the interruption that comes from tactics like this.

I’m a little biased on the entire thing given my line of work but I’ll be curious to see the effect this has on the housing market in 5-10 years as these people try and sell those houses that have a solar note tied to them. The company he was putting them on in -10 do you know what that does to your shingles driving lag bolts into them at that temp?

What happens when the company that warranties them is no longer. My brothers neighbor got them installed and then put a new roof on the house like 9 months later.🤦‍♂️

I went down to the Fort Collins Co Lowe's about a year ago and had this happen. He was going after my wife pretty hard with the sales pitch, little did he know she negotiates high stakes for a living. Ran that poor kid through a wood chipper of sales/negotiations. It was fun to watch.

Have used Lowe's appliance installers & they did a good job. Have never had a sub approach me in the store...

I would definitely have fun with a solar panel sales person if they cornered me in a store. Lucky for them, Lowes is a no go zone for me.🙂

Also check out what lag bolting panels to your roof does to your homeowners insurance, and property tax bill.
