If you had a free plane ticket anywhere in the world where would you go?
This is a hypothetical but it's also true for me. I have a round trip plane ticket to anywhere in the world. I would really like to use it on a hunting trip; the only problem is that I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on hunting once I arrive at my destination. I looked at New Zealand stag hunting but it falls into the too expensive category. So what do you guys think? I could do a fishing trip but I live in the northwest and my fishing fix is satisfied by winter steelhead season each year. Any input would be great.

I would have to go to alaska and do a float hunt for big moose that would be the one for me.............

Borrow the money and go to New Zealand. Dump the stag and go for chamois/tahr.

What about Russia? Moose (Elk) or Bear. South American Duck and Dove? Antartica hunting Whales and throwing Turds at the Sea Shepherd! John

I would go to NZ no question. You don't need an outfitter to hunt there, you can go DIY and the hunting season, I believe is year round, and a license cost you a few bucks... like $25. Take your camping gear and have at it. NZ is on my list of places to hunt in the near future. I don't think it would be any harder than doing a hunt up here, and consideralby cheaper too.

I've thought about an Argentina red stag/puma/wild pig trip but the plane ticket's the cheapest part.

Those two guys beat me to it. I'd go DIY tahr/chamois hunting.

As soon as I read the title of this thread I thought New Zealand.
Beautiful country and lots of cheap hunting opportunity. I've gotta think the plane ticket's the most expensive part.
Evidently my Fiancee's grandparents are looking into housing there, sure makes the mind wander on what opportunities could come up...

Bandwagon jumper

Add another for NZ.
Big brown trout, stags and those funny looking sheep things!
If the ticket is transferable, I'll be your huckleberry!:hump:

Western US or Alaska to hunt! Ain`t that`s where you guys are at!:confused:

You guys are lucky and don`t even know it.

I had a ticket for anywhere in the US last year and didn`t even use it myself. Gave it to a lady at my church to go to her friends funeral in Maine because she was short on cash.

Steelhead, I think you better send me the ticket. I'll go to N.Z. and see if the other guys advice was good. :) New Zealand sounds like a great place for adventure.

I guess I can say hi to you all down in NZ, as that'd be my choice too.

I've though pretty hard about a trip there at times. If I were to go, I'd try and make some friends at this board. They seem pretty friendly regarding helping foreigners get set up, especially if you are willing to reciprocate.

NZ elk

My friend Freddy got this elk in NZ.

I have no idea what the terrain is like but I could hunt that stuff I see right there. There is public land in NZ? This is sounding good...

I think the public land in NZ looks more like this:
